Giuditta Pasta, Giovanni Vernia and “Little Women” are coming

Double date on the weekend at Giuditta Pasta Theater in Saronno: the comedy of Giovanni Vernia and the musical Little Women, based on the famous novel by Louisa May Alcott.

After last season’s success, Friday 10 March, at 9 pmreturns, by popular demand, to Giuditta Pasta, John Vernia, with his new show Based on a Vernia story. Anyone who knows him associates the name of Giovanni Vernia with the irresistible masks with which he conquered TV and the web, and it is in his theatrical performances that the artist tells where his “comic madness” comes from. He is an inner demon, which begins to appear as a child, stimulated by the Genoa where he grew up and by the extravagant Apulian and Sicilian relatives. And he is a sort of mischievous sprite, who manifests himself in an increasingly intrusive way during his career as an engineer, forcing him to become a professional comedian. A light and intelligent comedy, where the artist’s personal story overlaps with a very amusing but acute journey through the clichés of these strange modern times.

The show is sold out.

The scene changes Sunday 12 March, at 6pmwith the musical for the whole family Little Women, the well-known story of the four March sisters who live in Concord, Massachusetts in the second half of the 19th century with their mother, while their father is away, a chaplain in the Union army during the American Civil War. The Compagnia dell’Alba has adapted into music the lives of Meg, Amy, Beth and in particular Josephine, known as Jo, an aspiring writer who intertwine with those of other colorful characters: Professor Bhaer, Aunt March, young Laurie with Mr. Lawrence, his grandfather, and his guardian, John Brooke.

The musical that achieved a decisive success on Broadway in 2005 by retracing the famous book by Louisa May Alcott, brings back to life with tenderness and emotion the timeless story of the four March sisters, each with their own character and utopias. The novel, included among the 100 fundamental works of American culture and entered the hearts of millions of readers around the world, has been the subject of countless cinematic reinterpretations (from the classic 1949 film starring Elizabeth Taylor, to the most recent 2019 with Meryl Streep and Emma Watson), of television versions and has even become a ballet and an opera. Six generations have read this story… the current one will sing it is the promise of the authors of the Alba company
