GlaxoSmithKline steps in to revive hepatitis B drug candidate JNJ-3989

British pharmaceutical giants GSK (LON: GSK) and Arrowhead Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ: ARWR) today announced an agreement for GSK to acquire JNJ-3989 (formerly ARO-HBV) for the treatment of chronic hepatitis B Exclusive license.

The investigational compound was previously licensed from Arrowhead in 2018 by Janssen Inc., a subsidiary of Johnson & Johnson (NYSE: NJ ).
