Global Citizen Festival 2023 kicked off Saturday in New York’s Central Park, the latest annual music festival to be headlined this year by Lauryn Hill, as well as a Fugees reunion and a closing set by the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
The lineup also included a salute to the 50th anniversary of hip-hop with Common, Busta Rhymes, Rapsody, Big Daddy Kane and Spliff Star. BTS’s Jungkook and Latto, Anitta, Conan Gray, Sofia Carson, Stray Kids and D-Nice also took to the stage on the park’s Great Lawn.
Hollywood was also represented during the six-hour show, with appearances from Chris Rock, Katie Holmes, Sophia Bush, Danai Gurira, Rachel Brosnahan, Gayle King, Connie Britton, Padma Lakshmi, Bridget Moynahan, Hugh Evans, Charlize Theron. Daymond John, Eddie Izzard, Liza Koshy, Natasha Lyonne, Nozamo Mbatha, Vladimir Duthiers, Helena Gualinga and Moj Mahdara. NBA star Carmelo Anthony also appeared on a huge stage on the park’s Great Lawn.

Launched in 2012, the festival brings together artists, activists, world leaders and more with a mission to end extreme poverty. Tickets are awarded based on points earned through activities such as signing petitions, calling political representatives, and participating in competitions.
