epic James Gunnthe creative mind behind artificial intelligence Guardians of the Galaxy by Marvelended in May with the third and final (?) chapter of a saga that, for one reason or another, miraculously managed to go down in Hollywood history.
And to say that there was a moment when Gunn seemed very far from this project, when in the summer of 2018 he was fired from Disney after all, famous tweets written many years before caused such a sensation. In the following months, fortunately, the page returned: Bob Iger gave a second chance to the returned home director. Guardians of the Galaxy, Part 3but in the meantime, Warner Bros. made their move by first signing him to Suicide Squadto then take over all management of the updated DCU, which he will also lead Superman: Legacy.
Without that damned summer, perhaps today Gunn would have been one of the important figures of Marvel Studios (the director was one of the most established creative minds in the company, so much so that he also offered consultations on the space part of films such as Captain Marvel), and possibly the same Multiverse Saga what we are experiencing today will be very different. But it’s useless to think about what if: let’s focus on the present and his latest, great work for Marvel, which just finally came out. also on Blu-ray and DVD (thanks to Eagle Pictures for sending the press copy). We discussed this at length in our review at the time of the film’s release: Guardians of the Galaxy, Part 3 it’s the perfect goodbye a group of wild heroes that James Gunn managed to make us love over the years, and in the most unpredictable ways. Hardly anyone ever expected such a success for this unknown group of Marvel characters, much less those who were betting on the realization of perhaps the best trilogy in the history of Marvel Studios in terms of quality and consistency.
This is not just a farewell film by Dave Bautista and Zoe Saldana, which Guardians 3 say goodbye forever to their respective roles as Drax and Gamora (instead, other actors have expressed a desire to stay in the MCU for a long time), but also with the conclusion rocket history (Bradley Cooper), the genetically modified raccoon who is at the center of the whole story here. His painful pastHigh Evolution (Chukkwudi Iwuji) is the driving force behind the whole moving story of the film, which traces his painful past over and over again, revealing all the suffering experienced in his own skin.
But Guardians 3, according to tradition, this is not just laughter. Gunn’s film, inspired by the music, sets and dialogue, is also sunny and balanced comedywho knows how to perfectly dose the delicate balance between emotions and a smile. What is clearly missing Thor: Love and Thunder
to be clear, Waititi, who was the first to fish out the Guardians afterwards Avengers Endgame. The last adventure of the Guardians as we know them today, but probably not the last forever, is a majestic and captivating film. A long and intense race against time to try and save a friend, this cursed raccoon with a love of weapons and prosthetics, capable of capturing the hearts of millions of fans. If you have other thoughts about the movie, here’s our review.
In the Blu-Ray version we reviewed, Guardians of the Galaxy, Part 3 comes in high definition 1080p and Dolby Audio, expressing with sad effect the visual and artistic brilliance that Gunn’s film showcases. Very colorful, very detailed, full of unique and already iconic worlds.
The superb visual sector demonstrates an image purity that is perfect even in HD (the 4K Blu Ray version that we were able to view on the sidelines further emphasizes this magnificence thanks to its well-realized HDR as well). From the days of Snaucher, where the rust of buildings surrounded by sparkling neon dances and the golden glow of Adam Warlock (Will Poulter), but the explosion of colors and vividness of images are striking when you get to the OrgoCorp base, a multi-layered and living complex that combines life and artificiality.
The highlight of the film is definitely the impressive sequence fight in the hallway headquarters of the High Evolutionary, an impressive and dynamic scene created in 3 days of hard work (in the video you will find above, we give you some background). This film is so amazing with its rich and colorful palette that everyone should be pleased, and the home video versions don’t have any grease at all.
The level of detail is also high, but the widest frames produce a spectacular and breathtaking image. The hard work done by Marvel Studios, whose CGI effects are finally back in vogue after troubled events like moon knight AND She-Hulk LawyerThen we notice characters like Rocket, their physiognomy, skin color and the movement of their fur. We obviously recommend purchasing the BR 4K version.but even the traditional Blu-ray certainly looks good against this impressive piece.
Sounds like a great track Dolby Atmos gives a very important quality. The sound effects are explosive, detailed and fantastic, the transitions of each sound effect are flawless. Highs and lows are dispensed with precision and without smearing, the fluid channels are free from defects. After all, Gann has always been a perfectionist in that sense: in a saga like guardianswhere music and sound have always been central, the result could only be at a high level.
The Blu-Ray obviously contains some extra content, most notably about 36 minutes of deleted and behind-the-scenes scenes. To be honest, we expected more: this highly anticipated film is the conclusion to the great MCU trilogy and James Gunn’s final goodbye to Marvel. The fact remains that the various content you will find in the list below is exhaustive and interesting, but some additions would definitely not hurt.
