Hayley Atwell says Tom Cruise gave her nice encouragement for Mission: Impossible stunt

Tom Cruise has a few surprises up his sleeve.

His Mission: Impossible: Deadly Reckoning co-star Hayley Atwell opened up about it at the New York premiere on Monday, explaining that the “car” stunt in the film was the most tedious part of filming.

“It goes from horizontal to vertical in six seconds, so we have to run down an incline and get to the bar before we’re hovering over the ravine,” Atwell told ET’s Nichele Turner about the scene in the seventh part of the stunt. heavy franchise.

“At one point I had adrenal fatigue and I looked like a zombie and Tom said, ‘Are you okay?’ and I was like, “I don’t even know what’s happening to me, Tom.” I don’t know,” she told ET. “And he said, ‘I know what you need. You need some chocolate.”

“And I thought, ‘Yeah, I know,'” she continued. “And he pulled out some chocolate and gave it to me, and I felt amazing, and then we were able to do it a couple more times.”

While Christopher McQuarrie’s film reunites Cruise with fellow Mission: Impossible veterans Simon Pegg, Ving Rhames and Rebecca Ferguson, Atwell is a newcomer in contrast to his physically daring star.

“I can give you a tour of all the hills I’ve run, where I’ve cried, where I’ve peed behind a tree, where I’ve wanted to take a nap, where I call my mom and say, ‘I don’t think I can do this.’ ” Atwell told ET. “It was, but it was a lot of mobility and injury prevention training.”

Cruise himself appears to have benefited from such training after his past injuries on “The Mission.”

The actor thanked fans for making Top Gun: Maverick his first opening last year with a $100 million budget by parachuting out of a plane. This particular stunt was just one of many expected in Dead Reckoning, including the one where Cruise rides his motorcycle off a cliff.

Although not currently considered a medical diagnosis, adrenal fatigue is a combination of dizziness, body aches and fatigue. According to the Mayo Clinic, these symptoms occur after the adrenal glands are relentlessly stimulated in a fight-or-flight pattern.

As for the chocolate, Atwell said it wasn’t the only sweet treat Cruise shared on set.

On Saturday, the Marvel star told The Independent that Cruise was so unfazed by recent rumors about their alleged romance that he told her: “You know exactly who you are. You know what you mean. And that’s the only thing that matters.”
