“I remember when I was filming it, the prop guy put a framed photo of Peggy with her husband and kids on Peggy’s bed, and Louis de Esposito came running over just before we started rolling and was going to ‘pull it out.’ We don’t know yet. We don’t want to limit ourselves to the assumption that this is who she married,” Atwell recalls. “And I know it was deleted. And I thought, “OK, this is really interesting.”
While the decision to remove the photo surprised Atwell, she respected the fact that Marvel likes to keep audiences interested in supporting characters like Agent Carter.
“I think what (Marvel) is so good at is giving audiences what they want and exceeding their expectations,” Atwell continued. “And I think that’s why they’re always conscious of just giving the audience the amount of information they need to know to keep them interested, but also delight them and surprise them with new information.”
The only other member of Agent Carter’s family to appear in the MCU is niece Sharon Carter (Emily Van Camp), who appeared in 2016’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Captain America: Civil Warand 2021s The Falcon and the Winter Soldier
