HBO Shuts Down Lovecraft Country After Season 1

HBO has decided to shut down Lovecraft Country without renewing it for the second and subsequent seasons.

Showrunner Misha Green was in talks with HBO to film a sequel, but HBO decided not to change the original, which is Matt Ruff’s novel of the same name.

The series takes place in the USA in the early 50s – Atticus, the main character, returns from the war to Chicago and receives a letter from his father, after which he goes to Massachusetts with his uncle and girlfriend. During the journey, the heroes come across an ancient magic cult, monsters, and aggressive racists.
