‘He has an extraordinary ability’

FILM INFORMATION

20 years after Zach Braff’s directorial debut, the actor and director has reflected on the similarities between Garden State and A Good Person, his new upcoming film. In particular, he commented on what, according to him, both Natalie Portman and Florence Pugh have a very particular ability.

According to Braff, in fact, the two actresses have the incredible ability to di enter and exit the characters without risking being crushed by the depth and heaviness of the roles. In Garden State, Portman plays Sam a pathological liar while in A Good Person Florence Pugh plays Allison, a girl who, in a car accident, loses her sister and her brother-in-law. “Florence just has an amazing ability, unlike anyone else – I mean Natalie Portman had this too, I have to say – an insane ability to enter an action scene and be presentBraff said.

While Florence Pugh recently admitted that she felt under pressure for A Good Person, Braff was keen to share how constructive it was for him to work with an actress like Pugh who felt so much the hardships and pains of the character. “Some actors of course, as we know, are complete opposites. They want to stay in the scene zone all day, and neither is right or wrong. But I would just say that Florence has a similar way to jumping into a hypnotic state and being able to go to such a dark placedeep and authentic, and then pop out” he concluded.

To best celebrate the release of A Good Person Florence Pugh shared a funny message from Zch Braff. What do you think? Tell us about it in the comments!
