The Department of Health admitted there was a “minor delay” in the arrival of 22,000 doses of the intranasal vaccine announced for the children’s flu vaccination campaign – aimed at children aged two to four years 11 months – although they said the missing vaccine would Arriving “this week” and will be available “between the end of this week and early next week.”
Health Ministry sources told Euronews that such “small delays” also occur in other autonomous regions where governments have changed, which may cause some delays in vaccinations, but “should be nothing serious.”
However, they assured that at-risk children who need the vaccine and need to receive the intranasal vaccine due to their age will get the shot.
It should be remembered that the children’s flu vaccination campaign starts on 3 November. The Ministry of Health announced that a total of 266,800 doses of influenza vaccine had been distributed, including 140,000 doses of adjuvanted influenza vaccine, 4,800 doses of high-load vaccine for particularly vulnerable seniors, and 100,000 doses of quadrivalent vaccine. The remaining 22,000 doses are intranasal vaccines for children ages 2 to 4 years and 11 months.
