In order to bring the community closer to the possibility of free testing and analysis of the virus, the Secretariat of Social Development of the Municipality of Caleta Olivia and the Deputy Minister of Community Health will launch an event at the Tourist Information Office in the city center in the framework of the Hepatitis Prevention Week Inside, the Community Integration Center in the city and the Rotary 23 community.

Hepatitis is inflammation of the liver caused by infectious and non-infectious pathogens that can lead to a variety of health problems. There are five main strains of the hepatitis virus, called A, B, C, D, and E. Although they all cause liver disease, there are important differences in their mode of transmission, disease severity, geographic distribution, and prevention.

The aim is to conduct mass testing to identify those infected with the hepatitis C virus in the population of the city of Elgo Rosito, not only to inform the patients of the diagnosis but, based on the data obtained during the campaign, the sPrevalence of anti-HCV antibodies in the population and in different age and socioeconomic groups.

The study will include blood samples taken for fingerprinting and a rapid test for the hepatitis C virus, the results of which will be provided immediately. Patients with positive results will be informed and accompanied by medical staff to continue relevant research for diagnosis and follow-up.

For this event, the High Complexity Research Center Laboratory will provide samples for testing for the virus and supplies of rapid test kits.

The event will be held on Wednesday, August 9th from 10 am to 1 pm at the Caleta Olivia City Tourist Office and the CIC in the Rotary 23 community and is open to the whole community.
