Prime Video announces that the series, based on the film of the same name, originally announced for November next year, instead, it will debut in the early months of 2024.. Plot and cast of “Mr. and Mrs. Smith”
Co-author: Glover (Atlanta, Roy) AND Francesca Sloan, Mr. and Mrs. Smith is a retelling of the famous 2005 film starring Brad Pitt AND Angelina Jolie and follows John (Glover) and Jane (Erskine), a married couple who, recruited by a mysterious agency, venture into the world of espionage, navigating (or learning) the waters of their marriage and mutual intimacy. Each episode follows them with a new mission and a new stage in their relationship. However, when the situation reaches its climax, they will have to fight to stay together because in this marriage, divorce is not possible.
The rest of the cast known so far includesJohn Turturro (Split, Plot against America, Rose name), Emmy Award nominee Paul Dano (Escape at Dannemora) and Emmy winner Michaela Coel (I can destroy you).
Reason for postponing the release
Last July, on the occasion of Prime Day, Prime Video scheduled a date with the series for November. The release date shift is likely due to strikes writers and actors who paralyze Hollywood. Protest rules essentially stipulate that actors cannot promote their projects, an opportunity that video streaming service Amazon clearly didn’t want to give up.
