Josh Friedmanthe talented screenwriter of hits like Avatar: The Way of Water And Snowpiercerjust landed a new project that is grabbing the attention of movie fans all over the world.
According to the news site The Hollywood ReporterFriedman has been tapped to write the screenplay for the new movie by Fantastic Four of Marvel. This news comes after Jeff Kaplan and Ian Springer, the film’s previous writers, were replaced by Friedman.
Marvel announced at the 2022 San Diego Comic-Con that the Fantastic Four will soon be joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe. With Friedman writing, audiences can look forward to a fresh take on classic Marvel characters.
The Fantastic Four are a family of superheroes with unique abilities, created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby in 1961. While the previous Fantastic Four movies were popular, they weren’t well received by fans or critics. However, Marvel has an opportunity to right past mistakes and deliver a film that reflects the spirit of the comics.
Friedman, with his experience creating complex, character-driven stories, seems to be the ideal choice for Marvel. Unsurprisingly, Marvel has tapped Friedman as their new writer following the success of his work on Avatar: The Way of Water.
The new Fantastic Four movie will be a fresh take on the classic characters, with a new cast. Matt Shakman will direct the film from a script by Friedman. At the moment, the film is scheduled to hit theaters in 2025.
The role of the protagonist, Reed Richards, is still a mystery. John Krasinski played the character in an Earth-838 variant in Doctor Strange in Sam Raimi’s Madness Multiverse, but it’s unclear if he will reprise the role in the Fantastic Four. Krasinski’s wife, Emily Blunt, said she is hopeful her husband will return as Richards.
