Holiday in Scotland: A former farmhouse becomes a spacious retreat in the highlands.

The trip is long. From Edinburgh Airport you will pass through Perth, the Cairngorms National Park and Inverness. The farther north, the more severe and untouched becomes the landscape around. Forests, rocky shores and vast lake characterize the landscape that forms the magnificent landscapes of Scotland. To make them holiday home design in scotlandthe couple enlisted the help of Danish designer Ruth Kramer, who came up with an elaborate concept for the restoration. Target? Creating a Scottish oasis with a modern Scandinavian twist. The concept, in turn, was realized by the Scottish design and architecture firm GRAS, who also developed a completely new layout of the premises.

Custom-made oak furniture and Scandinavian classics characterize the interior.

As soon as you enter the heavy front door, you experience a special sense of security that you would like to never leave. walls plastered with lime they capture the light from outside, dark Caithness stone covers the floor, and bespoke light oak fixtures divide the open space into different zones. Furniture is deliberately kept to a minimum.There are many Scandinavian classicbut nothing should disturb the tranquility of this place. At the other end of the room are dining room and kitchen. The latter, like all the rest of the furniture, was made of oak and is fitted to the niche of the house to the millimeter. Dark steel legs support beautifully textured furniture and give it a visual lightness.

Nature in the foreground

A a wooden staircase leads to the top floorwhere the bedroom and bathroom are located. The top floor also offers a unique view of the surrounding landscape, this time from a spacious black steel freestanding bathtub. Like the rest of the house, the ceiling is covered with oak, which creates a warm and cozy atmosphere. Everything seems natural and homogeneous, harmonious interaction is complemented by a simple color palette of browns and grays. Kyle House is not your typical vacation home, probably because it wasn’t designed as such. Secluded and secluded among the hills, this is a place of contemplation for a wonderful holiday in Scotland where nature is the protagonist.
