American media personality Bobby Althoff is facing backlash from sports journalist Jemele Hill after her interview with rapper Offset went viral. On September 25, Hill used her username X to express her dissatisfaction with the 26-year-old’s recent interaction with Open it rapper. Sharing a video post uploaded by @notcapnamerica, Hill said she doesn’t find these types of interviews “particularly enjoyable or interesting.”
She added that such interactions “sadly indicate that true hip-hop journalism has been largely erased.”
“Some of the media teams behind these artists are not interested in them communicating with credible people who can tell stories and give quality interviews. They then wonder why the artist’s real story remains untold, ignored, or misunderstood.”
In a video that went viral online, Althoff can be seen interacting with the former Migos member at her place. Really good podcast when he asked about her work. Bobbie responded, “I interview people.” When Offset asked her why she wanted to interview him, Althoff said no, and it was his team that approached her about the interview. Then Offset replied:
“Don’t shut us down, let’s not close the topic on this. Mark the performance. Cap.”
Then Bobbie said:
“Honestly, I don’t know how this happened, my team could have contacted yours. I’m not going to, I don’t want to make you look back.”
When Offset said he didn’t know who she was and initially thought his team were talking about Bobby Boucher from the 1998 comedy. water boy, Althoff said she had to Google him too because she had never heard of him.
“I had to go on TikTok, I couldn’t even find you on Google. You’re not here yet. But you will be there. But you’re on TikTok.”

In July 2023, Bobbi Althoff got her big break when she was invited to interview Drake for her podcast. The rapper has a huge fan base, which is why the program received millions of views and went viral.
After speaking with Drake, Althoff joined talent agency WME. The firm also represents several of the industry’s top stars, including Bruno Mars, Addison Rae and Adam Sandler. More than 11 million people watched her episode with Drake on YouTube.
Jemele Hill isn’t the only person who has rejected Bobby and others like her. Elliott Wilson shared X’s since-deleted post in July 2023, saying he didn’t like how Drake was asked about Althoff. Really good podcast, a Barstool program by Caleb Pressley and Lil Yachty. He wrote:
“Moment of clarity: no disrespect to Lil Boat. Yachty’s meeting with The Boy was comfortable and had some cool moments. I was more of a comedy clown. shenanigans with outsiders in our culture. It would be great to hear Drake talk to us again. Even if it’s not me.”
As of this writing, Bobbi Althoff has not responded to Hill’s criticism of her Offset podcast interview.
