La Mamunia: why is he so famous?

Have you heard about ‘Mamunia“at least once in a lifetime it’s not uncommon: it’s one of the most sought-after and discussed trends in history. Open at 1923 and designed by architects Leon Henri Prost and Antoine Marchisioover the past hundred years it has hosted many famous people, such as, as already mentioned, Sir Winston Churchill, who never held back in his praise of the hotel and returned every year to spend at least a month here, Charles De Gaulle, Yves Saint Laurent, Marcello. Mastroianni, Catherine Deneuve, Martin Scorsese, Nicole Kidman and others.

The reason for the cult significance of this place, dating back to the nineteenth century, can be found at the site: magical atmosphere, skilfully maintained over the years and recently updated with a major restyling dating back to 2020, it is designed to feel immersive in a dimension in which well-being, history and culture coexist. From a stylistic point of view, the contribution is made by a combination of Art Deco and the typically local Moorish style. In addition, of course, there is also the point of view of hospitality, in which La Mamuinia is a real gem and the spa is a real temple of well-being, crowning the dimension of a dream destination.

Brief mention of local Moroccan culture

Mamunia was and remains favorite place for receptions and banquets, moments of celebration dedicated to fun and well-being. A role that was destined to be this way from the very beginning: the structure was born on land donated King Sidi Mohammed Ben Abdullah in the 18th century to one of his married sons. In fact, it was his custom to give his children who were about to get married a house with a garden outside the Kasbah: places that were named Abdessalam, Mamoun, Moussa and Hassan. In the case of Arsat Al Mamoun, the land was transformed into an iconic structure that is now part of the world’s leading hotel chain, La Mamounia.
