It’s true that hickeys go away on their own, but there are ways to get rid of them quickly. After a few weeks, it will decrease until it disappears, however, since it is most common in the neck and this is a very visible area, one would like to speed up the process.

There are several techniques for removing hickeys:

  1. Wear a scarf or turtleneck in winter.
  2. Massage hickey: Massaging the hickey area can help speed up the healing process. You can do this with two fingers and a little baby oil or sweet almond oil. To do this, apply light pressure in a circular motion in one direction only.
  3. Use ice cubes. Another of the most effective methods for removing hickeys is ice application. Its application causes blood vessels to constrict, thereby stopping bleeding. Therefore, using ice cubes will help the hickey disappear faster. To avoid discomfort or burns, wrap ice cubes in a cloth before applying to the area.
  4. Alcohol. This product also helps eliminate hickeys on the neck. However, for best results, it should be used as soon as it appears. Dip a cotton ball with rubbing alcohol and apply to the hickey Massage in circular motions in one direction for several minutes. Then massage to the other side and it will disappear almost imperceptibly.
  5. Apply heat to the area. To do this, heat a gauze pad in the microwave, but don’t burn it, and once it’s warm, massage it over the hickey.
  6. Vitamin K: Whether it’s a gel or a cream, vitamin K prevents blood clotting and hickey formation.
  7. Use a toothbrush and toothpaste. Massaging with toothpaste and a toothbrush will help get rid of hickeys. For one thing, the toothbrush’s soft bristles help massage the area, getting blood flowing and absorbing clots. Conversely, toothpaste containing peppermint causes blood vessels to dilate in response to menthol. This way, the hickey will disappear faster.
