Bad weather will take over the fields of Argentine first division soccer with rain and strong gusts of wind. These precipitations will be caused by the “Bitcoin Hurricane” after the Club Atlético Huracán established an advertising and sponsorship agreement with the cryptocurrency exchange Decrypto.
The alliance between the club and the exchange house will last until December 2022, according to the institution through a statement. Details of the trade were not disclosed and it was not clear whether it was paid for with bitcoin (BTC) or other cryptocurrencies.
The institution did announce that the official shirt of the club will sport Decrypto advertising, as well as the posters in the Tomás Adolfo Ducó stadium, known as “El Palacio”, in Buenos Aires. The exchange’s emblem will also be on the playing field, at the Jorge Newbery Sports Field (“La Quemita”) and at the corporate headquarters.
«Undoubtedly, this new initiative taken by Huracán is a first for Argentine football. But it is also indoors, since the Institution is committed to innovation and technology as the way forward, “explained the soccer team in the announcement. Huracán assured that it is the first sponsorship of its kind in local football.
Among the conditions of the agreement, it stands out that the team members will be trained for the sale of bitcoin. Both parties also left the door open so that in the future the club operations are carried out with cryptocurrencies. This includes paying social fees or even buying and selling players with bitcoin, for example.
At present the team remains in position 16 of the classification table with 12 points at the rate of 2 wins and 6 draws. As for Decrypto, it is an Argentine exchange founded in 2020 and that exceeds 100,000 registered users. CriptoNoticias reported in April this year that the startup was the first in Latin America to offer tokenized shares.
Bitcoin and soccer, a growing alliance
The relationship between Bitcoin and international soccer has intensified in recent years. From renowned teams in Europe, to national teams, sports organizations are proposing new business models with BTC at the center of your planning.
An example of this trend occurred in September 2019 when English Premier League team Watford FC began sporting the Bitcoin logo on their uniform. It was an alliance of the club with the online sportsbook Sportsbet.io, which accepts payments with the first cryptocurrency on the market.
Even the Argentine national team has also been related in some way to digital assets. In May of this year the team announced that it would launch its own fan-token. For the issuance of the cryptoactive, the selection joined forces with the Socios.com platform, another fact reported by CriptoNoticias.
