I like Manchester United’s Roy Keane, David Beckham and Cristiano Ronaldo, but Arsenal and Liverpool are the best rivals

Manchester United have some of the biggest stars in football playing for them.

But which players made the biggest impression against the Red Devils?

According to talkSPORT’s resident Manchester United fan Mark Goldbridge, both sides had three standout players.

Turns out, one of them even influenced his hairstyle in his youth!

When asked who were the top three players in United’s history, the talkSPORT host said: “I think in my mind the three best players. Sometimes it changes but there is consistency so I would just say Pick the three players I always pick.” Time is.

“Roy Keane of course. I mentioned him before, he was just a role model and as a lad I used to love his energy, his tenacity and he was also a good player, a leader, aggressive. Sex. I just love it all.”

Another star of the era also holds a place in Goldbridge’s heart, and it’s no surprise that this star influenced his barbering journey.

“I like David Beckham for different reasons,” he continued. “I mean, I remember I even had a haircut like him. When he got sent off against Argentina, I was probably one of the only people in the country supporting him.

“I just love the way he plays, I don’t think he’s the most talented player but technically he’s just a wand with the right foot. I love Beckham.”

A current player has made it into Golden Bridge’s first three, although his second spell at Old Trafford came to an unhappy end before moving to current club Al Nasr in January.

He continued: “Then there’s Ronaldo. I think it’s Cristiano Ronaldo. It’s close, there’s a couple of others but I think I’m going to go with Cristiano Ronaldo because I think in two or three years he’s the best player in the world. The best player he plays for Manchester United.

“When it comes to goals and best goals, I will never forget the free kick against Portsmouth at Old Trafford in 2008. It’s nice to have a player playing for you who you know is the best in the world. player of.

“It’s a shame he went to Real Madrid.”

But the heroics of the three United stars and the performances of their rival legends are etched in Goldbridge’s memory.

“As far as players who have been annoying over the years, there are some individual performances,” Goldbridge said.

“I remember (Liverpool’s Fernando) Torres scoring a hat-trick at Old Trafford. But I always thought I had three hat-tricks from different eras.

“In this day and age, I thought Salah was very consistent against Manchester United and he always seemed to score.”

Salah scored 12 goals against Manchester United, his most against any other Premier League team. No wonder Goldbridge was afraid of him!

Unsurprisingly, Goldbridge gave his approval to the former Arsenal man, who excelled in the Gunners’ fierce Premier League rivalry with Manchester United under Arsene Wenger in the 2000s.

“A little further back there’s Thierry Henry, who I’ve always been afraid of,” he said. “I didn’t particularly like him as a player because he had that arrogance and va-va-voom. He was always a thorn in United’s side.”

But as well as their more famous rivals, Goldbridge remembers one who was a troublesome opponent at the time – Premier League record goalscorer Alan Shearer.

“Not long before that, another player I never really liked, Alan Shearer, who didn’t sign for us but scored a lot of goals against us, played for us in ’95 The team that won the league title played against Blackburn Rovers.

“I would choose those three. There are a few, but those three are from the entire Premier League era.”

But while Goldbridge looked back on all the amazing performances all these players achieved during their careers, he also explained to talkSPORT why he thinks stars like Keane don’t exist today.
