“I made a mistake and I apologize.” Netanyahu withdraws his statements about the “negligence” of the security services

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has come under widespread criticism from Israeli officials after a since-deleted post on X in which he accused the military and security services of negligence regarding the October 7 Hamas attack.

Netanyahu said in a post on “The (Israel) Chamber. Together we will prevail.”

Netanyahu came under harsh criticism after he issued a statement and wrote a post (before later deleting it) indicating that the security services were responsible for the catastrophic security failure on the morning of October 7, and that under no circumstances or at any time a warning was given to presidents and ministers about Hamas’ war intentions, according to Al-Hurra’s correspondent in Jerusalem.

Israeli opposition leader Yair Lapid said: “Netanyahu crossed a red line last night. At a time when soldiers and army commanders are fighting against Hamas and Hezbollah, he is busy trying to blame them instead of giving them support. shirk responsibility and blame the security apparatus weaken “The army is at a time when it fights Israel’s enemies. Netanyahu must apologize for his statements.”

Cabinet member Gadi Eisenkot believes Netanyahu’s early statements crossed the red line, and Lapid also called on Netanyahu to immediately revoke his statements, which he described as dangerous.

While the minister and member of the war cabinet, Benny Gantz (head of the camp’s official party), said: “This morning in particular, I would like to support and support all Israeli security agencies and soldiers, including the head of the General Staff , the security chief and the head of the Shin Bet When we are at war, “The leadership must be responsible.”

Netanyahu’s office clarified: “Late night, after the press conference, serious allegations emerged that the Prime Minister had received specific warnings about the war, but this was not the case (…) The Prime Minister is focused on leading the campaign and has full confidence in the IDF and the security forces and their ability” to achieve the objectives of the war.

The office responded to what it described as false reports and said that “Prime Minister Netanyahu was not warned under any circumstances and at any stage of Hamas’s intention to start a war.”

Israel began bombing Gaza and imposing a strict siege following Hamas’ attack on military sites and residential areas adjacent to the Strip on October 7, which killed 1,400 people, most of them civilians, including women and children, as well as the kidnapping of around 200 others.

The Health Ministry of the Hamas movement, which controls Gaza, announced on Sunday that the death toll had risen to more than 8,000, most of them civilians, including more than 3,500 children.
