A lucky thrift shop owner who discovered a rare find while shopping has been warned not to sell prematurely.
Shoppers who find great finds at thrift stores often share their scoops with like-minded people on Reddit.
A shopper shared their unique find on the r/ThriftStoreHauls thread on Thursday.
User u/midcoast36 posted, “Nike 1 screen printed Michael Jordan Slam Dunk T-shirt from the early 90s.”
They added that the T-shirt was found at a Kohls thrift store and was on sale for just $4.99.
While many have expressed doubts about the legitimacy of the discovery, this frugal guy has put it to the test.
“Original sales tag and factory sticker,” they added in the post.
“Grey Tag Nike. Made in the USA. Late 80s, early 90s.”
The photos posted show the front and back of the T-shirt, along with Nike tags and a sticker indicating that the T-shirt is one-of-a-kind.
Frugglers are shocked by this discovery that costs less than $5.
“Omg this is a huge score. Nice,” one person wrote in the comments.
“Nice find!” added another, after a thrifter previously gave shoppers some sage advice, calling it a “Holy Grail find.”
“Found the Holy Grail! It’s worth a ton! Take it,” they said.
“It only goes up in value with age.”
According to Reddit users, when Michael Jordan dies at the age of 61, the T-shirt will likely be worth more than it is now.
“Imagine being transported into the future once Jordan dies one day. This is an incredible discovery! Enjoy it!” they added.
One seller on eBay failed to heed the warning as they tried to sell this Jordan T-shirt for hundreds of dollars.
The seller classifies the shirt as a “1991 Vintage Nike Air Jordan Men’s Shirt,” and it’s selling for $323.99.
However, the sale ends in two days, at which point the price will return to $359.99.
While the seller has detailed pictures of the T-shirt and Nike tags, it doesn’t appear to have the unique stickers that the Thrifter does.
“This shirt is in excellent condition and perfect for any fan of Michael Jordan or vintage Nike apparel,” the eBay seller notes.
“It’s part of the Nike Air Jordan OG series and has a patriotic American theme.
“This shirt is a must-have for any vintage clothing collector or fan.”
The lucky thrift store shopper didn’t indicate in the post whether he planned to sell the T-shirt, but it’s yet another reminder that one man’s trash is another man’s treasure.
