Idol From Sam Levinson won’t be back in season 2 HBO extension. It airs five Sundays starting in June. Idol were the main characters Lily Rose Depp AND Weekendand followed a troubled pop star as she prepares for a world tour and runs into a mysterious cult leader. Even before the premiere at Cannes Idol he has been the subject of much criticism and controversy both regarding his creation and the story he told.
Now, the second Hollywood Reporterseason 2 Idol it won’t happen because HBO canceled the project. Sources say the series’ fate was in doubt until recently, and while there were no concrete plans to continue the story, Levinson had options. HBO said in a statement:
Idol is one of HBO’s most provocative original programs, and we’re pleased with the strong response from viewers. After much thought and consideration, HBO, as well as the creators and producers, have decided not to produce a second season. We are grateful to the creators, cast and crew for their incredible work.”
