Martin Scorsese considers Leonardo DiCaprio his son

“He learned a lot as a person; he told me what he did. Maybe he was a small child, just growing into adulthood. I have daughters. I don’t have any sons, so maybe we stumble, and it’s almost like parenting in a way. But, wow.”
The actor was quite young on the set, and Scorsese saw his own son in the actor. He noted the fact that he only has daughters, so it was a pretty unique and valuable experience for him. It was more like the director mentored the actor, but he was just as amazed by DiCaprio’s talent as everyone else.

Martin Scorsese was absolutely surprised working with Leonardo DiCaprio in the film Pilot. In an interview with Deadline, he admitted that his scenes were breathtaking in the most beautiful ways. Surprisingly, the film almost went to Christopher Nolan.
“It was the best picture of this type for him and me. Then Leo became like that too, and a lot of that happened in The Aviator. There were some scenes with Cate Blanchett that stunned me, I thought it was so beautiful.”
The way he performed with Cate Blanchett just mesmerized him. DiCaprio showed his talent in the form and the director knew it was a masterpiece. Taking advantage of the environment and adapting to it is what the director liked about him.
