Speaking to Variety about the Mission: Impossible Death Wage Part 1 ending, editor Hamilton revealed that there was originally an alternate version that showed the final betrayal at a pivotal moment. In an alternate sequence, Grace would initially refuse to join the group, instead sedating them and finding her way on board to “try to get money from the buyer and maybe try to get out of the situation she’s in.” However, Hamilton reported that “the testers didn’t really like the idea, so we came up with this solution.”
