Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James moved up to eighth on the NBA’s regular-season three-point field goals list after the Lakers lost 125-110 to the Sacramento Kings on Wednesday.

James hit his 2,283rd career three-pointer, surpassing Jason Terry.

Next up for him is Vince Carter, who ranks seventh on the all-time list with 2,290 three-pointers.

James made his historic 3-pointer with less than two minutes left in the second quarter when point guard D’Angelo Russell passed him the ball near the left wing.

The 38-year-old finished the game with 28 points, 10 rebounds and 11 assists, becoming the second-oldest triple-double in NBA history.

He now trails only Karl Malone, who had a triple-double at age 40 while playing with the Lakers.

Although James created a historic night, his statistics were clearly not enough to prevent the Lakers from being crushed by the more dynamic Kings.

Four of the five Sacramento Kings starters scored in double figures, and four of them scored well over 20 points.

Kings starting guards De’Aaron Fox and Kevin Huerter both scored 28 points, and center Domantas Sabonis scored 29 points.

Besides James, the only Lakers player to score more than 20 points was Russell, who also ended the game with 28 points. The only player to break double figures was forward Cam Reddish.
