Unseen footage from a LeBron James high school football game has surfaced on social media as it shows the NBA’s all-time leading scorer dominating across different sports.
A video from the early 2000s shared by Bally Sports on X (formerly known as Twitter) shows the 38-year-old NBA star as a wide receiver for St. Vincent-St. Marie football team in Akron, Ohio.
James was spotted catching passes on multiple occasions, including for touchdowns, and making tackles in a never-before-seen highlight reel.
He was also seen chatting with referees and taking off his helmet as he left the field and headed to the bench.
James was recruited by multiple Division I programs, including Notre Dame, before embarking on his journey to become a professional basketball player.
At the end of his second year, he was named first team all-state and as a junior he helped lead the Fighting Irish to the state semifinals.
He did not play his senior year due to a wrist injury sustained during an Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) basketball game.
Several sports analysts, football commentators, high school coaches, and former and current players have speculated that James might play in the NFL.
During the 2011 NBA lockout, James received professional football contracts from the Dallas Cowboys and Seattle Seahawks, which he seriously considered and even began training.
“The idea popped into my head,” James said at the time. “But I never had the ability to end my high school career like my senior year, where I always dreamed of playing football.
“It’s crazy because I’ve never actually run on the pitch in my dreams. It always gets to the point where I’m either in the dressing room, getting dressed, talking about it, or meeting the fans. Just when I’m about to run When I got to the court, something happened again in my dream. It always happens like this.
To be fair, James’ choice to become an NBA player was successful for him, as he won four championships, a Finals MVP, and a regular season MVP.
James’ achievements in his 20-year career also include 19 All-Star selections and 13 All-NBA First Team selections.
In February, he surpassed Kareem Abdul-Jabbar to become the league’s all-time scoring leader.
