Investigation reveals Bobby Charlton died from accidental fall

An inquest concluded his fall was accidental and occurred five days before his death at a dementia care center in the northern England town of Knutsford.

The hearing at Cheshire Court was told Charlton lost his balance when he stood up from his chair and hit a piece of furniture or “possibly a radiator”.

Staff at the center ruled out any type of injury as his mobility was not affected, however, they later discovered swelling in his back and called paramedics.

He was taken to hospital and scans showed he had fractured ribs and was likely to have pneumonia, so doctors agreed to put him on palliative care until his death five days later.
