Iron Maiden’s Bruce Dickinson Explains How An LGBT Activist Was His Inspiration For What He Does Today

Iron Maiden vocalist Bruce Dickinson talked about the interest of the first few times you make the decision to do something, such as how he went to an orgy without knowing what it was about.

In the interview he recently gave, he talked about a topic that may be strange for some, but in this case, he told how it was that an activist of the LGTB community, Quetin Crisp, in addition to being a model, writer and actor, was his source of inspiration. for the current format that you present in your show What Does This Button Do

“The story goes back to when I did the autobiography, ‘What Does This Button Do?’

“The publisher booked a couple of small theaters in the UK and the idea was that people would sit there and read some passages from the book for a bit, and then sign some books. Which was a bit boring. I thought that I should tell some stories or do something that I saw when I was an undergraduate student at the University. I went to see a show by a stand-up comedian named Quentin Crisp, who was one of the first LGBT activists. He was a very funny and witty guy. He did the Q&A portion at the end with cue cards written for him by the public. I thought that was very smart, because the public is writing the show for the second half. I did a few more of those shows, and it became clear that doing it with the book was a bit superfluous: the show had taken on a life of its own, and I was free to do all sorts of things. The show has evolved to the point where it’s now a kind of comedic narrative of life with some uplifting tidbits of information.”
