Another soldier assigned to the Gaza border responded, saying: “I have returned from America, where I have a job, a life and a family. It is not possible for me to stay there and leave my country and my people during this critical period. Where is the prime minister’s son and why is he not in Israel?” he said.
They can be called up to the age of forty
Military service is mandatory in Israel when you turn 18. Men must serve 32 months and women must serve 24 months. Those who receive military training may be called up to reserve units up to age 40 or even older in national emergencies.
Yair, who studied theater in high school, worked in the IDF’s spokesman’s unit instead of a combat soldier during his compulsory military service.
The son, Netanyahu, who presents himself abroad as an internationally known political spokesman and journalist, is known to get into trouble by regularly publishing controversial posts. Yair recently described hundreds of thousands of Israelis who took to the streets against the government’s Supreme Court reforms as “terrorists” and pointed to the United States as the name behind the protests.
