Reaffirm the invitation to beneficiaries to participate in the activities of the “Live Active” program
Mexicali.- Baja California State Workers and Municipal Social Security and Services Institute (ISSSTECALI) recognizes its commitment to the right to improve the quality of nursing and medical services in this social sector.
Anglica Pon MĂ©ndez, Deputy Director of the Medical Area, commented that ISSSTECALI has strengthened actions to prevent and promote the health of the elderly, “Life expectancy in Baja California is 78 years for women and 76 years for men, so the aim is to work so that people live longer, but more healthy”.
He emphasized that the elderly should have a proper diet according to the laws of metabolism to obtain the necessary nutrients, avoid strong seasonings, eat more vegetables and fruits; and pay attention to the intake of salt and fatty foods.
The diseases that most affect older adults are diabetes, high blood pressure, cardiovascular disease, pneumonia, cervical and prostate cancer, Ponmendes recalls.
To this end, it recommends regular physical activity for older adults to enhance their quality of life and again invites beneficiaries to participate in the activities of the “Live Active” program designed to help them develop aerobic resistance, strength and flexibility.
Finally, he called on eligible elderly people to seek medical treatment regularly, prevent diseases, detect diseases in time, and achieve healthy aging.
