Jack Ryan spinoff report gets surprising response from Michael Peña

Michael Peña’s Domingo “Ding” Chavez character has been widely reported as the favorite for a spinoff following Jack Ryan’s upcoming finale season, but the actor is now giving a mixed update. Based on the novels by author Tom Clancy, Prime Video’s Jack Ryan was first released in 2018, starring John Krasinski as the CIA analyst. The show will conclude with season four, which will introduce Chavez as an important character.

Ahead of the Jack Ryan season 4 premiere, Peña now provides an update on the status of his character’s spinoff in a new interview with Collider. While it certainly seems like a spinoff is still very much possible, the actors don’t consider it a 100 percent certain. Here’s Peña’s full comment:

“I don’t know. It depends on the fans and Amazon. There are a lot of people who have to do certain things, but if people like it, maybe they’ll step in and say, ‘Hey, we want more. !’ So, you know, let’s leave it in their hands.”

There’s One Thing To Expect From Jack Ryan’s Possible Spinoff Of Ding Chavez

Chavez is featured prominently in several Clancy books and has appeared in a supporting role in previous Jack Ryan adaptations, but he is never really placed at the center. So the announcement that a spinoff of Jack Ryan’s Ding Chavez might be in the works is welcome. While there appears to be no official movement on the series since it was first reported last May, the series could open up a wide world for the franchise.

It is important to note that Chavez is a major character in Clancy’s Rainbow Six book series. Considering that Amazon has already released It: Without Remorse, which sets the stage for the Rainbow Six film, Peña’s character could help connect the two franchises. A Rainbow Six film is already confirmed to be in the works, starring Michael B. Jordan stars in the title role and John Wick director Chad Stahelski is set to direct.

Given Stahelski’s busy schedule with other projects such as the Ghost of Tsushima film, it is unclear how close the Rainbow Six film is to completion. Then again, it’s possible that if Peña’s character proves to be a hit in Jack Ryan’s fourth season, the spinoff could be greenlit and released before Rainbow Six hits theaters. This would allow the spinoff to potentially create Rainbow Six, serving as a bridge between Jack Ryan and the larger Clancy universe Amazon intends to create.
