James Gunn says that after Avengers: Endgame, it’s really hard for Marvel to make good movies

When the promotional tour of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will be concluded, James Gunn will have exhausted his commitment with Marvel Studios and will be able to throw himself headlong into his next project which will see him lead the DCU for Warner Bros Discovery. However, Gunn seems determined to remain the world’s foremost fan and aficionado of Kevin Feige.

“I really want Marvel to keep making good movies”he has declared James Gunn about the release of Guardians 3. “I think it’s really difficult in the wake of the Blip. There is this world event, which has occurred throughout the universe. And truly, everyone should be completely insane by now. So it’s hard to write stories in the vein of that. That’s why the Guardians movies were easier, because they’re set a little bit out of this world.”

The Blip that Gunn refers to is obviously the conclusion of Avengers: Infinity War when Thanos made half the population of the universe disappear. The disappeared population returned at the end of Avengers: Endgame and every subsequent Marvel film and television series has had to wrestle with the aftermath of that event. The end of Endgame presented a different challenge for Gunn as it ended with members of the Guardians of the Galaxy who have teamed up with Thor’s Chris Hemsworth.

“(Marvel) chose to have that ending in the edit”Gunn said. “And I didn’t think it would happen. “Endgame” came out right after I decided to remake “Guardians”. So I didn’t get much say in what was in Endgame, and then when it came out I was like, “What the fuck am I going to do?”

Luckily for Gunn, Thor: Love and Thunder Of Taika Waititi he quickly separated the paths of Thor and the Guardians again. Thor went his way in the film, leaving the door open for Gunn to write Vol. 3

without Thor, as originally planned.

“When (Marvel Studios president) Kevin (Feige) said to me, ‘Taika will do Thor, and there will be Guardians too.’ I said, ‘Thank God!’” Gunn said. “To be completely honest, Thor was never going to appear in this movie. Taika took a bullet for me. Because I would never have him in the movie.”

Written and directed by James Gunn, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will arrive in theaters on May 3, 2023. The shooting of the film should officially start by the end of 2021. They will return to the cast Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Pom Klementieff, Karen Gillan, Will Poulter with Vin Diesel And Bradley Cooper who will still offer their voices. In the film is also expected Chris Hemsworth as Thor. Joining them are newcomers to the MCU Will Poulter And Chukwudi Iwujiwith Poulter confirmed to play the role of Adam Warlock.
