James scores 37 points and makes clutch free throws as Lakers beat Rockets 105-104

LOS ANGELES (AP) — LeBron James scored a season-high 37 points, including a go-ahead free throw with 1.9 seconds left, and the Los Angeles Lakers beat the Houston Rockets 105.-104 on Sunday night.

It was James’ fifth 30-point game this season and his fourth in the past seven games, and the Lakers have won five of the past six.

Alperen Sengun tied the game with a layup with four seconds left, and the Lakers called a timeout. Austin Reeves recovered a pass to James, who was fouled by Tari Eason. James missed his first free throw but made his second.

After the timeout, Houston brought the ball to midfield, but Dillon Brooks’ three-pointer missed. The Rockets lost their second straight game after a six-game winning streak.

At the beginning of the game, James became the fourth player in NBA history to have at least 10,500 assists. He also tied Vince Carter for seventh with 2,290 3-pointers and moved past Clyde Drexler for eighth with 2,208 steals.
