James Wan on DC Studios’ Aquaman Future: ‘It’s Like Living in a House Being Renovated’ | Movie

Yesterday we finally saw the first trailer for the film “Di”. Aquaman 2cinematic James Wan With Jason Momoa which will be released in Italian cinemas in December under the title Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.

Basically, the film will be the last of the old DCU. As you know, a few months ago Warner decided to open a new division. DC Studios, dedicated to the development of films and TV series based on DC Comics intellectual property. I’m the head of the studio James Gunn AND Peter Safran what from James Wanhas been a production partner for both franchise and franchise for some time now. Spell what in Aquaman.

The first ten games from DC Studios were announced a while ago and, obviously, nothing on the list is borrowed from the old course (HERE THE DETAILS): Henry Cavill is ancient history, Shazam is a memory. The situation is different with projects that have received critical and public acclaim, such as Batman and Joker, which will have sequels with Elseworlds.

For both Blue Beetle and Aquaman (and in some ways also Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman and Ezra Miller’s Flash), the lines seem more blurred, and that was the theme he discussed. James Wan at a press conference organized by Warner on the occasion of the presentation of the film’s trailer Aquaman 2.

I am perfectly aware of everything that is happening around me. To give you an idea, I use this analogy: it’s like living in a house that’s being renovated. It’s hard for me not to be aware of the restructuring taking place around me. But that’s the beauty of Aquaman 2 and Aquaman 1: they’re always designed to live in their own world. The advantage of not being tied to this larger universe is that at the end of the day, whatever happens, it won’t affect my film. As you can see in this movie, it has nothing to do with anything. It lives its own history. Of course, there are rumors, but I’m just in my cocoon in this underwater kingdom. My dream would be to create a standalone Seven Kingdoms cinematic universe where we could visit all the different worlds that we touch on in these two films.

And regarding the opportunity to continue telling this world, he adds:

What I can say is that Jason Momoa’s Aquaman story definitely has some way to go, and yes. When we get to the end of this movie… The answer is yes. I don’t know how to answer without spoiling everything, because this movie goes into some territory, it sets something more… Not necessarily more, but it sets the direction of this story, and I don’t want to say anything else about the closure of this film (…) Aquaman 2 focuses on the development of Jason’s character, Arthur. In the first film he was a wanderer still trying to discover who he was, but in this one he finally becomes the Ee of Atlantis.
