JAZZIZ Editor’s Choice: Chris Botti, Hiromi, Butcher Brown and more

Editors JAZZ you’re lucky enough to get to listen to new music before it’s officially released in stores and streaming platforms. And since we’re constantly listening to new tunes, we always know what to recommend. That’s why each week we’ll be bringing you a ten-song selection, featuring music from our favorite new albums, singles, and other tunes that may have flown under your radar.

This week’s playlist starts with Butcher Browncollaboration with saxophonist Braxton Cook to “DIKVID” from Sunny music. “Diablada” is the first single from Ava Mendoza and Devin Hoffa’s new jazz-rock project. Mendoza Hoff Revelsdebuting in feature format at the upcoming Echolocation. Linda Pearl offers a sultry rendition of Cy Coleman’s lush “Let Me Down Easy” as one of the tracks from her fourth album, a collaboration with music director Tedd Firth. This could be the beginning.

“Sonicwonderland” – title track HiromiAn upcoming album filled with pulsating synth beats. Ed Motta draws inspiration from Little Nemo in Dreamlandcreated by Winsor McCay for “Slumberland”, the latest single from the album. Behind the tea chronicles. guitar player Wolfgang Muthspiel offers a new rendition of Joni Mitchell’s “Amelia” from his trio album, Dance of the Elders. Alan Changknown as the musical director of Michael Bublé, finds his own voice on Check, pleaseoffering a mix of jazz and soulful melodies and opening with “Natalie Explain.”

“Old Folks” is the trumpeter’s lead single. Chris BottiBlue Note’s debut album Volume 1which marks his return to acoustic jazz and classical standards and features him in a small group. “Summer” is an original composition inspired by violist Jean-Luc Ponty. Debbie Spring from her latest album, Tokamos. Our playlist ends with “Our Land Back” by Irreversible entanglement‘s Protect your life; The track is described by the band in a press release as “an anthem for the struggle for self-determination of peoples who have been dispossessed of their land and denied the right of return.”
