Jerry Seinfeld hinted at a possible Seinfeld reunion during the Saturday Night Comedy Show after years of rumors swirling about the NBC hit.
Seinfeld, 69, told his Boston audience that he and Larry David, who also co-created the show, were working on a special project for fans.
“Well, I have a little secret for you about the finale (of the show),” Seinfeld said in a clip posted to Instagram. “But I can’t say it because it’s a secret.”
“I’ll tell you what. FINE? But you can’t tell anyone,” the comedian teased. “Something will happen related to this ending.”
Seinfeld later added that it “hasn’t happened yet” but “what you’re thinking, Larry and I were thinking about it too. You’ll see.
The Post has reached out to Seinfeld for comment.
The iconic New York City-based sitcom originally aired in 1989 and ran for nine seasons until it ended in June 1998.
In the series finale, Seinfeld and his friends – Elaine Benes (Julia Louis-Dreyfus), George (Jason Alexander) and Kramer (Michael Richards) – are arrested and thrown in prison.
The episode, watched by 76 million people, has been called one of the most-watched television programs in history, despite the backlash the ending generated.
After going off the air, many fans were eagerly awaiting the show’s return, despite Seinfeld himself saying it was time to move on.
“I remember when I was in season nine and thinking, ‘Maybe it’s time to call it a day,’” the comedian told People magazine and other reporters at Citi Field in 2021. “I remember inviting Michael, Julia and Jason to my dress-up sessions. room and we all just sat there and looked at each other.”
“I said, ‘I thought maybe now is our moment to go out well.’ We’re very lucky here. Perhaps we shouldn’t push our luck too hard. And we all agreed that this was the right time,” the actor continued.
The so-called “Show About Nothing” received a partial revival in 2009 when Seinfeld and David, 76, directed a scene in the seventh season of “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” which featured Seinfeld, Louis-Dreyfus, Alexander and Richards in several films. -episode story arc.
Reunion rumors intensified in 2018 when Seinfeld told Ellen DeGeneres that a reunion was “possible” but did not provide any details.
