Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers fully agrees with Tom Brady that the league has become weaker in recent years.
Legendary NFL quarterback Tom Brady recently questioned the physicality of the league compared to when he was playing. Brady’s comments raised eyebrows from many around the NFL, including New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
Brady claimed that the league’s rules have changed and the overall culture has changed, resulting in a different product on the field. Rodgers saw exactly what Brady saw as the Jets quarterback treated the former Pat McAfee star via Brian Diado’s “The Pat McAfee Show” on CBS Sports The sentiment is doubled down on.
“If I look at the real big picture, the softening of society has definitely led to things like this,” Rogers said. “There’s no place for enforcers in hockey anymore. Why? Because we need hockey games. “It’s too violent. “
“I think people want to see football become a collision sport. Not where players get banged up on the pitch but where they enjoy big hits. Some of the players you just met were big hitters and what pushed them It’s the line between what’s a cheap shot and what’s a legitimate shot.”
The NFL has undoubtedly changed since Tom Brady first joined the league in 2000. There is a greater emphasis on roughing the passer and pass interference. The “hip drop” tackle appears to be on the NFL’s radar now. Because of all these changes, defenses across the league are having to change the way they play.
In turn, Aaron Rodgers believes it creates a watered-down product. He doesn’t want to see anyone get their heads chopped off, but the Jets quarterback believes the NFL has lost touch with his physical attributes. It would be surprising to see the league change their policy after so many rule changes so far. While Brady may retire, if/when he returns from injury, Rodgers will have to deal with these rule changes and the overall state of the league.
