John Legend angers Gwen Stefani with Caleb Sasser victory

John Legend isn’t the king of four-chair performances on The Voice—he’s Al Rey.

Legend was captivated by Latin singer Willie Gomez, along with fellow coaches Niall Horan, Reba McEntire and Gwen Stefani, during the sixth round of blind auditions on Tuesday night. The Miami dancer and vocalist earned a four-chair turn with his suave performance of Manuel Turizo’s “La Bachata.”

The “All of Me” singer received flirty competition from Stefani, who raved about Gomez’s vocal talent and looks. “Your voice is so beautiful and flawless. He has so much stage presence,” Stephanie said. “You are wonderful”.

Gomez, who has worked as a dancer with major pop stars such as Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera and Jennifer Lopez, also received praise from Legend for his versatility. “You can do whatever it takes to become a big star,” Legend said.

Stephanie’s courtship was no match for Legend’s stellar promotional offers, as Gomez chose Legend as his trainer.

“We make eye contact (and we have) all this chemistry,” Stephanie said, but “he doesn’t choose me. He chooses fucking John Legend.”

Legend is on a roll that’s as smooth as his rhythm and blues chops.

Singer Caleb Sasser wowed Legend and the rest of the coaches with his angelic vocals and jazzy rendition of Toni Braxton’s “Another Sad Love Song,” which had the 27-year-old turning over four chairs.

“The ease with which you sing is so beautiful, in the most humble (and) down-to-earth, smiling way you can do it,” Horan told Sasser. “It would be an honor to coach someone as unique and genuine as you.”

The North Carolina crooner also received a standing ovation from his musical hero Legend.

“It was magical,” Legend said. “The key to working with artists like you is to choose songs with great melody that allow you to be the musician you are. We can have a lot of fun doing this together.”

Sasser and Legend are going to have some fun. The singer joined Team Legend.

“John is playing incredible and it’s so annoying,” Stephanie said. “If John makes a mistake, Caleb will end up on Gwen’s team.”
