Essay by Chrissy Teigen for Glamor She was, as with everything she does, brutally honest about her experience with postpartum depression (PPD). Since then, many women have spoken out about how much it means to see a voice given to their own fight against PPD, and now Chrissy’s husband, John Legend, is speaking out, too.
“For me as a husband, my job was to do everything I could to support her, understand what she was going through and do everything I could do to help her. I feel like it’s the least I can do,” the singer. said People magazine.
He added that it can be difficult to see your partner struggling with PPD because “internally you don’t know what it’s like” and advises others to “read about it and understand what it is and really just be there for help.” Be present and you need to be compassionate. And we’re all learning and trying to figure it out as we go. At least do it and try to figure it out together.”
And it goes without saying that no one was as proud as John when his wife decided to publicly share her experience.
“I’m glad she wrote about it. I think for her it helped a lot of women realize that they are not alone and no matter how much money or fame you have, anyone can feel it. anyone, no matter how successful you are or how many resources you have,” he said.
