Lionsgate, a production company canadian that belongs to the Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, has announced its new schedule of releases. As it has happened to all of the productions planned for 2020, the closure of cinemas, brought on by the coronavirus has been forced to delay the date of the debut of John Wick: Chapter 4.
So confirms The Hollywood Reporter, also including the movies Spiral: From The Book of Saw (Spiral) and The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard. All of these premieres have been postponed no less that a year.
The fourth installment of John Wick, the action series starring Keanu ReevesI was originally scheduled to reach theaters on may 21, 2021, but has been postponed until the May 27, 2022. Matrix 4 is the other big premiere starring Reeves, who is at risk of delayed (and it probably will, because he has interrupted his shooting) because of the pandemic COVID-19. In addition, it shared the same release date that John Wick: Chapter 4.
On the other hand, the Spiral, the sequel to the horror franchise Saw, I was going to be released on the 14th of this same year, but will return to the hole that has left John Wick 4 and now will be screened on 21 may 2021. The Hitman’s Wife”s Bodyguard happens to be scheduled for the August 20, 2021, along with the psychological thriller Antebellum.
Recently, we reported that the director of John Wick: Chapter 4 is concerned will not be able to overcome the action of the last film. “I’ve had quite a few ideas for the next one that I think they are different and impactful. How to run them, no fucking idea right now. I am trying to solve it,” he said David Leitch in some recent statements.
The blow that has struck the coronavirus to the film industry is unprecedented. 2020 will be a year void of new releases and movie theaters closed, because all the producers are looking with hope to 2021 and 2022.
