In an interview with VulturesChad Stahelski, director of John Wick 4 (READ THE REVIEW), revealed which action scene from the film was about to be left out of the final cut.
It is the one in which the protagonist uses a rifle with special projectiles called “Dragon’s Breath“, in which the contribution of visual effects was fundamental.
Here are the words of the filmmaker:
When they viewed the sequence from above without all the effects and without the
glare from the gunshots, what do you think they suggested cutting? Up until near the end of shooting, that was a sequence that a lot of other people thought we should cut. It wasn’t until we put in the temporary visual effects that people said, “Oh f*ck. We didn’t think it would be anything like this“. And I thought: “Good thing we didn’t cut it“.
A few weeks ago, we recall, the director revealed which game inspired the sequence.
