After the second, third and fourth films, working on these projects was so tiring and destructive for Keanu, both physically and emotionally. Therefore, when at some point he told us that he could not continue, we decided to agree with him. (…) He made us understand his desire to be killed at the end of the fourth film. And yet we told him that we would leave a 10% possible chance of his non-death.
In the end, a compromise was reached, the ending of which may leave some ambiguity. But Keanu Reeves will still return in the John Wick spin-off called Ballerina, which will center on Ana de Armas. However, this is a prequel.
