The Canadian singer Justin Bieber and the American Demi Lovato, two of the greatest pop figures in the world, were the first attractions of the Rock in Rio than the Brazilian city of Rio de Janeiro will be organized in September 2022 announced by the organizers of the music festival.
The organizers announced on their social networks that Bieber and Lovato will be presented at the show scheduled for Sunday, September 4, 2022, one of the seven nights of concerts that the festival will offer in its new edition.
“Two icons, two stars in the World Box (main stage of the festival) and many hits await you on September 4, 2022. @justinbieber and @ddlovato are coming for the close of the first weekend of the festival,” according to the message posted on Twitter.
The eighth edition of Rock in Rio in Rio de Janeiro was initially scheduled for September and October of this year, but the pandemic of the covid-19, which has particularly punished Brazil – the second country in number of deaths and the third in number of cases – forced the organizers to postpone it for a year.
Attractions initially announced for this year, such as the “night of metal” that would feature the participation of bands such as Iron Maiden, Megadeth, Dream Theater and Grave, have not yet been confirmed by 2022.
Rock in Rio 2022 will have seven nights of concerts on September 2, 3, 4, 8, 9, 10 and 11 in the call “City of Rock” that the organizers will reassemble again in the Olympic Park of this Brazilian city.
The choice of Bieber, a pop idol, as the main star in one of the concert nights of Rock in Rio was justified by the polls conducted by the organizers among the attendees and that point to the 27-year-old Canadian as one of the three that the public most wants to see in Rio de Janeiro.
“The champion of the charts, who reached 100 entries in the Billboard Hot 100, comes to Rock in Rio 2022. Do you know what we can expect from that? Nothing but one success after another,” the organizers said on their Twitter account.
Bieber has already given three concerts in Brazil (2011, 2013 and 2017) but it will be the first time he will participate in an edition of Rock in Rio, since he has not appeared in the editions of the festival in Lisbon, Madrid or Las Vegas.
Lovato, on the other hand, will debut at The Rock in Rio in Brazil, but it has already been presented in the Lisbon edition of 2018. The American took advantage of her concert in Portugal to record the documentary series “Dancint with the devil“, the name of their latest album, released in April.
The 2022 edition will be the twenty-first of the festival in its history and the eighth in Rio de Janeiro, where it was born in 1985. Rock in Rio has offered, in 35 years of life and 20 editions in Rio de Janeiro, Lisbon, Madrid and Las Vegas, 119 days of concerts and 2,338 musical attractions, seen by some 10.2 million spectators.
In its 2019 edition in Rio de Janeiro, also with seven nights of concerts, it featured artists and groups such as Bon Jovi, Drake, Weezer, Goo Goo Dolls, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Iron Maiden Scorpions, Black Eyed Peas and Pink.
