Justin Bieber to perform at the 2021 MTV VMAs for the first time in six years

The Canadian singer’s last appearance on the VMA stage was in 2015, with a performance by “Where Are Ü Now” and “What Do You Mean?”. In the years that followed, the singer toured with his “Purpose Stadium Tour” however it could not be completed in its entirety as the artist was forced to cancel it due to mental health problems.

This year, the musician is nominated for video of the year and artist of the year, the two biggest awards of the night, as well as best pop, best collaboration, best direction, best cinematography and best editing.

It’s certainly been a fast-paced year for the Canadian, who recently topped the Billboard Hot 100 for the second time in eight months with “Stay“, his collaboration with the Australian rapper The Kid Laroi.

The tune marked Bieber’s eighth number one single, and came after the success of his sixth studio album. “Justice”, which was released in March and generated the number one hit with “Peaches.”

Other artists who will be present at the VMA ceremony will be: Camila Cabello, Chlöe, Doja Cat, Lil Nas X, Lorde, Machine Gun Kelly, Shawn Mendes, Olivia Rodrigo and Twenty One Pilots.

The darling of country-pop, Kacey musgraves, he will also take the stage at the show and perform his new song “Star-cross”, the title track of his next album, for the first time.

Although Bieber has the most nominations of any artist, rapper Megan Thee Stallion comes in second with six, while Billie Eilish, BTS, Doja Cat, Drake, Giveon, Lil Nas X and Olivia Rodrigo they have five each.
