The actress considered herself the overweight girl who was always at the end of the auditions.
Kate Winslet recently opened up about her fears of Hollywood after Titanic propelled her to fame.
The actress mentioned her fame on the Titanic during an interview with the Los Angeles Times.
There she was quoted as saying: “I was the overweight girl who would always be at the end of the line. And since my name was a W, sometimes I didn’t even walk through the audition door because time was running out before the Ws. And I was on Titanic. It was crazy”.
During the course of the interview, Winslet also added that the reason she was “scared of Hollywood” was because she considered it “a big, scary place where everyone had to be skinny and look a certain way.”
Before concluding, however, she added, “I knew I didn’t see myself that way or feel like I fit in there, so if I was ever going to belong, I had to earn my place. For me, I hadn’t earned it. Titanic could have been a fluke. “
