Despite being seen so many times at the highest level, Kevin Durant still respects LeBron James like no other player in the league.The Phoenix Suns star ETC Podcast Talk about how inspiring it is to see LeBron remain one of the best players in the NBA two decades after his debut.
“He still has that youthful energy. It’s everywhere,” Durant said. “He’s attacking the goddamn first attack. Like it’s still trying to eat other people. Seeing it is a source of inspiration. Seeing his character as a competitor makes me think, ‘Fuck, I want to too’ Do that kind of thing”ยป.
Durant went on to highlight LeBron’s longevity, a month and a half into his 21st season as a pro in the NBA. “He looks like he’s only 20 years old. But he’s 38 and has been through a lot. You know, off the field and as a human being. He has a lot of responsibilities. A family. And he still loves the game. Go ahead, play for 40 minutes, back to back etc. Like, oh my god, my homage. “
Together, LeBron and Durant have won six NBA titles, six Finals MVPs and five season MVP awards, ranking them as two of the greatest players of the 21st century and history. The broad curriculum allows them to show mutual respect. In fact, LeBron himself mentioned Durant when asked who could surpass him in scoring in the NBA.
The last time the two played together was on Christmas Day 2018, when Durant was a member of the Warriors.he ‘head to head’ That’s especially good for LeBron (20-15), even though it’s his namesake (9-5) who takes the cake in the playoffs. Now, the Oct. 26 game between the Suns and the Lakers marks the first time the two have met in five years.
