Koeman recalls Michael Jordan telling him to ‘keep rapping and acting’

Common recalled that Michael Jordan advised him to “stick to rapping and acting.”during an interview Late Night with Seth MeyersCom revealed some advice MJ gave him after the 2010 NBA All-Star Celebrity Basketball Game.

“I worked hard to play in those famous basketball games because I love basketball,” Common said. “A lot of my friends were watching, so I was hoping to show up and perform well. I did really well that year. “I really thought I was going to win MVP. ”

While the rapper believes he “hit it big on the court,” Jordan disagrees with that assessment. He remembers the legendary athlete telling him that his true calling was away from the basketball court — far, far away. “After the game, I went to Michael Jordan’s brand, Jordan’s party, and he said, ‘Common, come here.'” I gave him a little love and he said in my ear, ‘Keep rapping and performing, ‘” he added.

Ten years later, when Seth Meyers won the MVP award, he presented the host with flowers. After they joked that people “don’t care if he wins,” Com explained how important the award is to him. “I’ve won some awards, which I’m very grateful for. But this is what I strive for, man,” he admitted.
