TOLFA – Since yesterday, Tolfa has been going crazy with the Rosehip Festival: a traditional event that concludes the program of summer events and includes a long series of meetings and events for every taste and for all ages. “Festival of Folk Traditions – La Radica” was born in 2011 and is organized by the municipality of Tolfa in collaboration with the association Generatio 90, the Agricultural University of Tolfa, with the participation of local non-profit associations, Slow Food, Città Slow International, the biodistrict “Maremma Etrusca e Monti della Tolfa”, and also with the participation over the years of the Municipality of Montana Monti della Tolfa, the municipalities of the Lazio region, it has also for many years received the patronage of the Province of Rome, from the Regional Council of Lazio. In the streets of the historical center, an ancient/poor building belonging to the tradition of the “Buttesco and Maremma peasants” has been recreated. For this occasion, the cellars are open and decorated with antique working tools to accommodate craftsmen, artists, photographers and sculptors. This year also saw the creation of a scenography thought out to the smallest detail. The streets are lined with antique accessories, historical photographs, blacksmiths giving horse and donkey shoeing demonstrations, and exhibitors of games from the past. Don’t miss the fun and entertaining “Intermunicipal Tug of War” competition, in which teams representing 10 local municipalities will compete: Tolfa, Allumiere, Artena, Canale, Cerveteri, Civitavecchia, Cisterna di Latina, Formello, Palestrina and Santa Marinella. The event will begin with a unique procession involving various participants, accompanied by a group of drummers and flag bearers from Tolfa. Institutional representatives from all competing municipalities will be present.
