Former NBA forward Zach Randolph expressed his excitement for Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James to field a star-studded team at the next Olympics.
James and Lakers big man Anthony Davis are reportedly ready to play in Paris as part of a potential superteam.
“It’s exciting times, man,” Randolph said. “The King is back and putting it together. “It’s great to see him – to see how he does it. “
It will be interesting to see which other players join James in the Olympics. James is a three-time Olympian and two-time Olympic gold medalist, and he’ll certainly make a better case for other stars to join him in the 2024 Olympics.
The United States has struggled recently at the 2023 FIBA World Cup, losing to Germany in the semifinals and then being defeated by Canada in the third-place game. Some of the best players on the team participating in the FIBA World Cup include Anthony Edwards, Jalen Brunson, Austin Reeves, Mikal Bridges and Jaren Jackson Jr.
However, Randolph believes that there is no problem with a team composed of top stars participating in the Olympics, and he hopes they can come together.
“We have the best players in the world,” Randolph said. “That’s what it is. “It’s going to be fun, but like I said, it’s going to be a good thing, all the guys are going to come and compete. “
Since the 2008 Beijing Olympics, the U.S. team has won basketball gold medals in four consecutive Olympics. If James wants to keep this momentum going, he needs to add some top players to Team USA.
The NBA’s all-time scoring leader will be 39 years old by the 2024 Olympics, but he’s still playing at an elite level. Last season, the four-time NBA champion averaged 28.9 points, 8.3 rebounds and 6.8 assists per game while shooting 50.0% from the field and 32.1% from beyond the arc.
If James, the leading scorer and one of the most decorated players in NBA history, is willing to play for Team USA, it should inspire many other players to sacrifice part of their offseason to compete in the Olympics.
Randolph, who played against James during his career, clearly wants to see one of the game’s greatest players play for his country again.
