Did you know that LeBron James has now scored more points than Magic Johnson and Larry Bird combined? He did it all in less time than both legends? Well, the Los Angeles Lakers star himself couldn’t believe it either.
During last Monday’s Lakers game against the Philadelphia 76ers, James formally transcend Total points scored by Johnson and Bird (including playoffs). LeBron dropped 18 points in this game, scoring 47,101 points in 66,319 minutes. As for Johnson and Bird, they scored 47,096 points in a combined 82,112 minutes, according to Extra Stat Muse.
After seeing this eye-popping statistic, all James could say was “this is crazy,” as he wrote on his Instagram Story alongside a statistic chart.

LeBron James is the only player in NBA history to eclipse the 39,000-point mark in the regular season, so it’s definitely no surprise to see him set some interesting scoring records here and there. However, it’s surprising to see him surpass two of the greatest players in league history in total points. This is a testament not only to his insane longevity, but also his consistency.
It remains to be seen what other records James can break in the future. He is currently averaging 24.8 points per game this season, but if he maintains his average and stays healthy for most of the season, he is currently on track to break the 40,000-point mark.
However, no matter what happens, James should be an interesting observer to watch this season as usual.
