Eugene, Oregon. — College football coaches are also dressing up for Halloween.
“We just spent Halloween around the facility here,” Oregon State head coach Dan Lanning said at a news conference Monday. “I was wearing a werewolf mask. “I don’t usually wear clothes, but one of the coaches’ wives gave me a hard time because I had nothing on. “
“What I will say,” Lanning continued, “is that a werewolf mask is not the best mask for little kids to wear. So, there were some little kids in the facility that I had to take off the mask quickly or they would get really upset.”
The Ducks have also been intimidating to most opponents this season, and a lot of that has to do with the team’s mentality.
They’ve weathered the Deion Sanders media circus and twice been the centerpiece of College GameDay.
But through it all, they managed to control their emotions and channel them into physical confrontation on the football field.
Lanning has been looking for creative ways to get that message out as they prepare for California now.
“We played a clip this morning of Michael Jordan getting to the basket, you know, he shoots, turns around, steals, and then the ball is taken away from him,” Lanning said, “and then he runs all the way down the court. And in He blocks a shot before he leaves the court. And, you know, the focus is on the next play. Right? He’s not worried about the shot he just made, he admits, he’s not worried about his steal, and at the end of the day, he’s ready for the next one. a match.”
Two players who embody what Lanning was talking about are quarterback Bo Nix and defensive back Taysee Johnson.
Both earned Pac-12 Player of the Week honors for their performances against Utah.
